Elise Ficarra came to The Poetry Center in Fall 2000 after working as a publications manager, promotional writer, grant writer, editor, and lecturer in English composition at SF State. In addition to working at The Poetry Center, she teaches writing at Chabot College.
Ficarra is author of the poetry collection Swelter (Fourteen Hills Press, 2005) and a contributor to hinge: a BOAS anthology of eight women writers, and has published work in SFMOMA'sOpen Space, 14 Hills, Transfer, Scribbler, SmallTown and Kindergarde: Avant-Garde Poems, Plays, Stories, and Songs for Children. She has a Bachelor of Arts in women studies, a Master of Arts in English composition and a Master of Fine Arts in poetry.
