Premier Leslie Scalapino 21st Century Innovative Writers Series: M. NourbeSe Philip

Owing to a generous gift from the Leslie Scalapino-O Books Fund, The Poetry Center very happily presents renowned poet, essayist, novelist and dramatist M. NourbeSe Philip, appearing as the first featured writer in our newly-launched Leslie Scalapino 21st Century Innovative Writers Series.

M. NourbeSe Philip, Trinidad-born Afro-Canadian poet, writer, and lawyer  — author of the extended poetry cycle Zong! (Wesleyan, 2011), and Blank: Essays & Interviews (Bookthug, 2018), among other works — is recognized as a crucial poet of our collective history and our shared present time. She visits San Francisco from her home in Toronto, Ontario.
